Some issues we should all pay attention to.

Capt. William C. Kibble, a retired Vietnam Vet had recently sent me this information. I'm happy to pass it on. Act now to prevent President George W. Bush and Congress from reducing servicemen and -women, their families to indigent, charity patients. In January, Congress is reducing the deficit on their backs, by cutting TRICARE doctor's pay 5.1 percent. Then, TRICARE will pay doctors 25 percent to 35 percent less than other insurance policies, making it very difficult to find a doctor who w...

A Gulf War Soldiers Story.

Randall Vallee sent this to us and I'm proud to be able to provide a forum for his thoughts. How do you begin to tell a story about yourself and your experiences during a war? Where do you start when you know that there is no possible way to explain to someone what you have been through, knowing they will have no idea what you're talking about or how it makes you feel to even think about it? This has been a perplexing question I have asked myself numerous times and yet I still have no answers...

Coming back from war.

We want to thank Melody Pigg for sending us this article. It's a reprint from a Houston Chronicle piece. I want to either thank the Houston Chronicle or apologize for posting it here. This deserves a read. -------- Bad stuff happened in Iraq, stuff Adam Reuter doesn't want to talk about. His wife worries because he leaps out of bed at night. But when he does talk about the war, he goes right to how the insurgent crumpled after he pulled the trigger. How later, during the firefight, he ended u...

What she and the other volunteers have done has touched a lot of lives. We urge you to get involved. The weekday morning began like so many others. Finishing my coffee while getting ready to go to work, I was only half listening to a morning news show on television. I thought I heard a woman say, "adopt a soldier"...

A law we can all agree on.

As hard as it may be to believe, there is a "church" in Topeka, Kansas that has been loudly protesting at military funerals. The Westboro Baptist Church has been staging noisy protests at family funerals for those lost in Iraq and Afghanistan, jeering the attendees and carrying "God Hates Fags" signs. They are mocking those who would protect their right to protest. Our hearts go out to those families that have been harassed by these protesters. There is relief though. This was sent to us by D...

Learn about the name on your HeroBracelet.

One of the things we wanted to do with this project was to bring people closer to those who have given their lives in war. I remember when Nightline was pulled from the air for reading their names on national TV. I thought this did a great disservice to the men and women who had died in Iraq. I wanted to help build connections between those who have lost all, with those back home. This has proven to be very true. I saw firsthand when my wife was wearing one at work and a total stranger asked ...
